Flag banner.

I found this awesome nautical flag banner at  Land of Nod! Naturally, I fell in love before I noticed the price tag. $30 for a birthday party decoration is way more than what I would like to spend.

So, I came up with a plan...

And of course my plan involved craftiness! Did you know that there is a different nautical flag used internationally for each letter of the alphabet? The sign above reads Happy Birthday MASON!

I got all of my fabric from Hobby Lobby for $11 (which includes the fabric that I used for the tablecloth in this post.) Hooray for $3/yd broadcloth & 40% off coupons!

My process was easy- Cut 2 10" squares of yellow fabric, 1 of red. Cut the red square in half. Attach one red triangle to each yellow square. Put right sides together, sew around. Flip it right-side-out. Topstitch. And you're done!

I am thrilled with the way my "O" turned out... AND this is proof that you can sew! My stitching is crooked & I hate to measure but it still turned out cute.

Stay tuned for the big reveal of all 5 letter flags at Mason's birthday party!
